“Almost all children respond to music. Music is an open-sesame, and if you can use it carefully and appropriately, you can reach into that child’s potential for development.”

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is the clinical use of music to accomplish goals set by the therapist after an evaluation with the client, their family and therapy team. Goals may include reducing stress and anxiety, self expression, social skills, improving fine and gross motor skills, speech and more. Adaptive music lessons may also be provided within the music therapy session to help a child learn to play an instrument such as the piano, guitar and ukulele. Children are given the freedom to choose the instrument of their liking and lessons are adapted to making learning fun throughout the therapeutic experience.

“Sarah is more than just a therapist to us. She is like family. Her sessions seem effortless and has a natural and playful way of connecting with our child. We never knew how much of an impact music therapy would have on our child and 6 years later we are still going strong. It’s a huge part of our lives.”
